METTLE SUNRISE 3 - DUAL CITY

Yep...this is now "a thing." Jerks getting up (or staying up) to see the sun rise on the longest day of the year 25 miles away. This time we're bringing SF along for the ride. June 21, 2018 - mark your calendar and read the info below...

Each time, there's been the simmering question "Why?" in the back of my head and everyone else's but the answer reveals itself as soon as the wheels start turning and the experience is shared by all. Let's be real, I'm not going to sell you on waking up at 2:30am from a blog post. You just have to come do it and decide if it was worth it later.

This year, we're adding another city to the event. Patrick Marzullo will be helping to lead a ride from the Golden Gate into the headlands for the same event! From the top, we'll FaceTime altogether and say hi to our fellow crazy people. The exact route and timing of the SF route will be finalized this week and we will announce it on IG.

PDX ROUTE

Starting along Fremont and 15th (NE) at 3:30am, we’ll gather riders along the route to meet where the I-205 bike path intersects with Marine Drive. That should be 4am. From there, it’s about 1:10 to Vista house where we aim to catch the sunrise at 5:21am.

Last year we made back into Portland proper by 7:30am (without any mechanicals or flats).

SF ROUTE

Closer to the equator, SF's sunrise occurs at 5:48am so it's wheels up from The Bridge Cafe (marked as the start in the above Strava link) at 4:30am.

Just in case, here's some of the greatest hits from the last 2 years.
